Athletics Department Unveils New Logo, Brand

Brockport's new brand pays respect to its storied history and tradition of athletic success.

The College at Brockport Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Noah LeFevre, announced today the release of a new branded identity for Brockport Athletics. Brockport contracted the services of Phoenix Design Works to develop a new series of college-wide athletic logos and sport-specific set of marks for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
 
“The College at Brockport has a rich and tradition-filled history and as we celebrate our 175th anniversary as an institution I could think of no better way to recognize the past while at the same time look towards the future through the release of a series of classic, yet modernized athletic department marks and logos.” LeFevre commented. 
 
“I am extremely excited about what we were able to achieve through the help of Phoenix Design Works. Phoenix Design Works served as great partners throughout the venture and I look forward to working with them in the future. I think our community will greatly appreciate the branded identity we have created.”
 
Included in the new identity is a primary logo, word mark and letter mark as well as multiple sport-specific marks for each program.  Also developed were a proprietary font and a collection of marketing images. The rebranding process took more than five months from conception through unveiling.
 
Working closely with Phoenix Design Works, LeFevre and Brockport have created a new family of athletics logos that will serve as the foundation of The College at Brockport's athletics brand.
 
The new Golden Eagle logo and brand will be prominently featured on all Brockport jerseys, apparel and merchandise, game-day programs, press releases and the departmental website.
 
The branding initiative plays into the department's strategic plan of being more competitive while conveying a message of taking pride in being a student-athlete at Brockport.
 
“Of particular appeal to us is the unique and proud mascot visual juxtaposed against the classic Brockport typography,” said Amy Skiles, Phoenix Design Works' Senior Vice President of Business Development/Client Services.
 
“They deliver the message that Brockport comes from a proud tradition, and is also bravely taking on the changes of bringing the athletics program into the new millennium.  It delivers the dual message of our strengths and heritage while conveying the exciting changes athletics will be making for the future. There truly is something for everyone in the new Brockport Athletics program.”
 
This newly-created series of logos features a proud Golden Eagle designed in the traditional Brockport green and gold. The new logo and Brockport brand, which includes a uniquely green and gold colored font, will be exclusively used by all Brockport Golden Eagle varsity sports teams.
 
The use of these new logos, one for each of Brockport's 23 varsity sports, has begun immediately.  They will make a prominent appearance on the college's newly-designed website, www.goBrockport.com.
 
Phoenix Design Works, located out of New York City, was founded in 1987. The company strives to work with colleges and sports teams on both their branding and development of their own unique logo identity.
 
Phoenix Design has also worked on improving the franchise identity branding and logo identities of numerous conferences, championship events and professional sports teams, including: all jerseys and logos for Major League Baseball's Cincinnati Reds, Colorado Rockies, Detroit Tigers and Florida Marlins; the National Basketball Association's Philadelphia 76ers; as well as the Super Bowl, Major League Baseball's All-Star Game and the Indianapolis 500.
