CORTLAND, N.Y.— The College at Brockport baseball team traveled to SUNY Cortland on Thursday for game one of the State University of New York Athletic Conference playoffs against the Red Dragons. After a pitching duel for much of the game the Golden Eagles fell by a score of 5-0. With the loss Brockport are 0-1 in the postseason, while Cortland moves to 1-0.
The Green and Gold threatened in the first inning when
Tom Kretzler and
Anthony Eaton hit back-to-back singles before
Lou Miceli reached second on a strikeout wild pitch to load the bases. Unfortunately, a run did not come across and the score remained 0-0.
Sam McCumiskey started off strong, working 4.0 scoreless innings before the opposition knocked in two runs in the fifth.
The seniors' day came to an end in the sixth inning and
Trevor McCarthy took over out of the bullpen and closed out the inning.
Chris Cramer was the second pitcher called out of the bullpen and entered in the eighth. The Brockport bats where unable to string together hits the rest of the game and fell, 5-0.
The Golden Eagles will play Friday, May 4 at 10 a.m. against the loser of Oswego State and SUNY New Paltz.
