BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's gymnastics team hosted Ithaca College in a dual meet on Sunday, narrowly edging out the Bombers, 188.925-188.575.
The Green and Gold improve to 5-1 on the season while the Bombers fall 2-8 in 2018.
The Golden Eagles outmatched the Bombers on their opening event, posting a 47.675 on the vault while Ithaca turned in a 47.550.
Stephanie Mager led the way on the apparatus, notching a score of 9.775. Brockport took the fourth through seventh place spots.
Bridgette Schaal (9.550) took fourth,
Candis Kowalik (9.475) finished fifth,
Shelby Schumaker (9.450) snagged sixth, with
Amy Eck (9.425) and
Jamie Sklenar (9.425) tied for seventh.
Brockport edged out their counterparts on the uneven bars as well, piecing together a team score of 46.825-46.300. Schaal and
Miranda Shaine were the Golden Eagles' top finishers, with scores of 9.450.
Allison Hester took fifth, with a 9.400.
The Green and Gold faltered on the beam, scoring a 46.225 to trail Ithaca, who scored a 47.725. Kowalik grabbed first, posting a score of 9.750. Sklenar (9.550) and Schumaker (9.450) were the next best finishers for Brockport, taking fifth and sixth respectively.
Brockport shined on its best event of the day, taking the floor with a score of 48.200 to Ithaca's 47.000. The Golden Eagles swept the top four spots, with Kowalik leading the way with a 9.750.
Brittany Vasile took second, scoring a 9.675, while Schumaker and Mager took third and fourth respectively with scores of 9.650 and 9.600.
Taylor Keough posted a sixth place finish for Brockport, scoring a 9.525.
Brockport will be back in action on Feb. 10 when they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to compete in the Cornell College Invitational.
