BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Brockport gymnastics team celebrated senior day and hosted their annual Stick it to Cancer meet on Saturday, all while blowing by Rhodes Island College.
The Golden Eagles scored a team total of 189.500, while the Anchormen notched a score of 177.075.
The Green and Gold squad kicked off their meet on the vault, posting a score of 47.850, bypassing RIC's mark of 45.875.
Stephanie Mager led the way on the apparatus, with a score of 9.750 to take first in the meet.
Candis Kowalik finished in second, with a score of 9.675, while the Golden Eagles took fourth and fifth with a 9.525 from
Bridgette Schaal and a 9.500 from
Shelby Schumaker.
The Golden Eagles continued to shine on bars, with the rotation highlighted by a performance from injured senior
Jill Coyne. Fellow senior
Miranda Shaine notched the highest score of the meet, with a 9.725. Brockport swept the top five spots, with
Allison Hester finishing in second (9.650),
Alyssa Klock taking third (9.375), Schaal nabbing fourth (8.925) and
Amy Eck finishing in fifth (8.800). As a unit, the Green and Gold outmatched their counterparts on the event by a total of 46.475-42.175.
Brockport kept the strong performances coming, snagging the best team score on the beam, by a margin of 46.775-44.875. While the Green and Gold missed out on the top spot, but the Golden Eagles swept the second through sixth places. Hester and Schumaker tied for the best Brockport score, with each routine earning a 9.500.
Kimberly Musall earned fourth with a 9.325, while
Olivia DeLuca captured fifth with a 9.250.
Erica Roth notched a 9.200 on the event, taking sixth place overall.
The Golden Eagles kept their tradition of finishing strong, posting their highest score of the meet on the floor, a 48.400, sailing by their counterparts 44.150.
Brittany Vasile shined on the event, earning the meet high 9.850. Brockport continued its dominance, taking five of the top seven spots on the floor. Musall (9.725) finished in second, Schaal (9.700) took third, Shaine (9.650) finished fourth,
Madison O'Malley (9.475) took fifth and
Jamie Sklenar (8.925) rounded out the Green and Gold scores in seventh.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Sunday, as Brockport travels to SUNY Cortland for a dual meet on Feb. 18.
