Brockport Football Camp File: Day Two

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Brockport football team's defense will have a new feel in 2016 with the addition of Mike Fox as the new Defensive Coordinator. Fox begins his 13th season in coaching after spending the past eight seasons at St. John Fisher College as the Defensive Coordinator.

Date – Aug. 15, 2016
Day of Camp – Two

While at Fisher, Fox oversaw a defense that crushed over eight school and national records. His unit set the single game record with 11 sacks against Hartwick College in 2013.  That same defense also caused a school record 18 forced fumbles and was ranked second in the country in interceptions.

"Coach Fox brings a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and structure to our defense.  The best part of having him join our program is that we don't have to face his defenses anymore," joked Head Coach Jason Mangone.

Fox will be taking over a defense that has a great deal of talent that includes nine returning starters.  The Golden Eagles are excited about playing for Coach Fox and the competition in practice has already been set at a high level.

"We have always admired the intensity and disciple that his teams have played with over the years and we're excited to bring that to Brockport," noted Mangone.

Over his career, Fox has mentored over 50 All-Conference players, two All-American linebackers, an Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year and a d3football.com All-Decade selection. A 2005 graduate of Fisher, Fox was a four-year starter at Fisher and two-time All-American inside linebacker. He set the Fisher single-season record with 151 tackles as a junior in 2003 and tallied 135 tackles in 2004, while helping guide the Cardinals to their first Empire 8 Conference title and the program's first trip to the NCAA Division III Championship.

For his career, Fox, a former All-Greater Rochester selection out of Caledonia-Mumford, ranks not only first at Fisher in career tackles, but his 478 career tackles rank third all-time in NCAA Division III.

Fox will make his Golden Eagle debut on Sept. 3 when Brockport hosts Hobart College with kickoff slated for 1 p.m.
