BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Wrestling team will send Eric Velez, Jeff Palmeri and Asher Kramer to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the NCAA Division III National Championships this weekend with matches beginning Friday March 11 and continuing on March 12.

The Golden Eagles have a difficult task ahead of them but can prove their championship pedigree by continuing the hard work that already has earned them a spot in the National Championships. The NCAA released the tournament style brackets on Monday with two Golden Eagles needing victories to enter the championship bracket.

Kramer is pitted against sophomore CJ Pestano of Central Iowa in the 125-lb bracket. The winner will earn a spot in the championship bracket against seventh seeded Wisconsin-Stevens Point's sophomore Ben Vosters.

Palmeri will also need to wrestle his way into the championship bracket with a match against Concordia-Moorhead's Ricky Briggs in the 184-lb bracket. The winner will face unseeded Brandon Conrad of Rhode Island College.

Senior Eric Velez earned a championship bracket placement with his impressive record of 27-6 on the season, including a second place finish at the Mideast Regionals last week. He will also get the opportunity to prove he belongs immediately as he is scheduled to face the No. 1 seed Connor Campo of Wartburg in the 133-lb bracket.
