ITHACA, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's gymnastics team had a strong showing in the Big Red Goes Pink Invitational hosted by Cornell University on Sunday, finishing with a score of 187.625.
The Golden Eagles placed third behind Air Force Academy, who took first with a score of 191.525. Host Cornell took second with a 191.225, while Ithaca College placed fourth with a score of 185.900.
The vault proved to be the strongest event for the Golden Eagles, with
Bridgette Schaal taking first with a score of 9.625 and
Casey Sullivan placing second with a vault of 9.600.
Kayleen Burns finished seventh with a score of 9.475.
On the uneven bars,
Meghan Cash was the top finisher for the Green and Gold, placing fifth with a score of 9.550.
Caitlin Elsadek scored a 9.450 for 11th place, with
Taylor Keough and Schaal scoring 9.325 and 9.275 respectively.
On the beam,
Erica Roth was Brockport's top finisher, with a score of 9.500 for ninth place overall. Burns scored a 9.400 to take ninth overall in the event.
The Golden Eagles had a sound day on the floor, with Schaal and Keough placing fifth and eighth respectively with scores of 9.725 and 9.700.
Madison O'Malley placed ninth, scoring a 9.650 on her routine.
The Golden Eagles will be back in the gym on Feb. 20 when they head to SUNY Cortland.
