Freshman Jill Daddario (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) scored a meet-best 9.5 on the floor exercise and added a 9.3 on the vault to lead The College at Brockport Gymnastics team, ranked No. 1 in the country, to a 182.950-174.900 victory over Rhode Island College Sunday afternoon in Rhode Island. The meet was the second in as many days for the Golden Eagles.
Daddario was one of the five scoring gymnasts on the vault for Brockport which ended up being the best event of the day for the Golden Eagles with a 47.300 score. Amanda Carney (Walpole, MA/Walpole) and Olivia Sylvestro (Palm City, FL/Martin County) led the way on vault with each scoring a 9.575. Gabrielle Pettito (Selden, NY/Newfield) added a 9.5 and freshman Marla Thomas (Piedmont, SC/Wren) came in with a 9.35 for Brockport.
Daddario was the top scorer on the floor with her 9.5 and Carney added a 9.3.
Senior Heidi Beckerich (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard) had the high score for Brockport on bars with a 9.425 while freshman Maddie O'Braitis (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run) was next with a 9.25 and fellow freshman Caitlin Elsadek (Nokomis, FL/Venice) added a 9.075.
Sophomore Amanda Rota (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) took top honors on balance beam scoring a 9.575. Kathryn Coghlin (Wappengers Falls, NY/John Jay East Fishkill) was next with a 9.525 and Beckerich added a 9.2 for the Golden Eagles.
