Senior Lexi King (Glendale, AZ/Mountain Ridge) scored a 9.825 for her floor exercise routine leading The College at Brockport Gymnastics team, ranked No. 1 in the country, to an easy 188.800-172.350 victory over Ithaca College Saturday at the Tuttle North Gymnastics center in Brockport.
The win for Brockport (4-2) came with a season-high team score and a season best floor exercise score of 48.525 as all five scoring gymnasts in the event recorded at least a 9.65.
King led the way on floor with her 9.825 and freshman Jennifer Sklenar (Canfield, OH/Cardinal Mooney) was next with a 9.7 while Olivia Sylvestro (Palm City, FL/Martin County) and Amanda Carney (Walpole, MA/Walpole) each score 9.675 and Lily Jagodzinski (Tonawanda, NY/Williamsville North) rounded out the top five scores for Brockport with a 9.65.
The Golden Eagles won every event in the victory as Sylvestro and Carney each had scores of 9.6 in vaulting, Stephanie Schuler (Purcellville, VA/Hickory) won the uneven bars with a 9.65 and Jagodzinski took top honors on the balance beam with a 9.55.
King and Schuler each posted scores of 9.525 in vaulting while Gabrielle Petitto (Selden, NY/Newfield) came in with a 9.5 vault.
Casey Addis (Williamstown, NJ/Willianstown) had a 9.3 on bars while Schuler added a 9.5 on balance beam. Freshman Kendal Hamer (Ocala, FL/Trinity Catholic) had a 9.35 and Samantha Spaid (Green, OH/Green) scored a 9.325 on beam.
