Amanda Rota (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) had the top balance beam score leading The College at Brockport Gymnastics team to an impressive 185.375-177.775 victory over Springfield College Saturday afternoon in Brockport.
Schuler recorded a 9.55 to win the bars, Rota was credited with a 9.625 for her beam routine and Carney nailed a 9.5 on the vault for the Golden Eagles who scored at least a 46.5 on three of the four events as a team.
On the vault, all five scoring gymnasts cracked the 9.0 barrier with Carney leading the way. Sylvestro added a 9.475,
Lexi King (Glendale, AZ/Mountain Ridge) added a 9.45 while senior
Elizabeth Levy (Glen Allen, VA/Hermitage) and
Gabrielle Petitto (Seldon, NY/Newfield) each scored 9.375 leading Brockport to a 47.175 score to open the competition.
On bars, Schuler was the lone Golden Eagles to score above a 9.0 but her 9.55 was the top score on the day for the event.
Brockport rebounded from the bars with an impressive showing on the balance beam as Rota led a strong Golden Eagles effort. Senior
Kelcie Morris (Hagerstown, MD/Smithsburg) was close behind Rota with a 9.6 while
Samantha Spaid (Green, OH/Green) added a 9.425 and Levy topped the 9.0 mark with her 9.125 effort.
On the floor, Brockport closed the meet with five scores of at least 9.0. Sylvestro was the top scorer with her 9.6 followed by King with a 9.5, Levy and
Taryn Kateridge (Medford, NY/Patchogue-Medford) who each scored 9.45 and senior
Stephanie Pastorelli (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) closed out the scoring with a 9.15.
