2012 SUNYAC All-Conference Teams
The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team has placed four players on the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Conference teams. Junior
Emily Zartman (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) was the lone Golden Eagle named to the First-Team All-SUNYAC.
Along with Zartman, senior
Dayna Piraino (Syracuse, NY/Henninger), junior
Karen Bianchi (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) and freshman
Colleen Hathaway (Watertown, NY/South Jefferson) were all named to the Second-Team All-SUNYAC. Brockport finished the season as the top scoring team in the conference, averaging 16.93 goals per game and 25.67 points per game.
Zartman led Brockport with 44 goals on the season and totaled 57 points. The junior scored a team-high 12 free position goals on the year. This is the third consecutive year at least one Brockport player has been named to the first team.
Piraino eclipsed the 200 point mark in a 21-2 win over Potsdam and finished her career with 235 points, ranking second all-time in Brockport school history. The senior led Brockport with 67 total points with 31 goals and 36 assists. Piraino ranked ninth in the SUNYAC in points per game.
Binachi was second on the team with 34 goals this year. Bianchi finished with 38 points on the season. The junior also had a solid defensive season, leading the team with 29 ground balls, 27 draw controls and 21 caused turnovers.
Hathaway was just one of two freshman to be named to either the first or second team on the year, and is the first Golden Eagle rookie to make an all-conference team since Piraino was named second-team in 2009 as a freshman. Hathaway was recently named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team as well after her defensive performance against Cortland in the first round. The freshman started all but two games this season and collected 26 ground balls, 14 draw controls, and caused 17 turnovers on the year.
The Golden Eagles fell to Cortland in the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament 11-9 after entering as the No. 4 seed. Brockport finished the season with an overall record of 10-5, the team's third straight year with double digit wins.
