2012 SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award Recipients
Three-student athletes from The College at Brockport were honored by the State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher with the 2012 Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award.
Brian Duffy (Hilton, NY/Hilton) of the men's soccer team,
Kileigh Chapman (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) of the women's gymnastics team, and
Tom Rispoli (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) of the wrestling team have all been honored with the award.
Duffy, who was named First-Team All-SUNYAC, Second-Team All-Region, and to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Upstate First-Team, is a Computer Science major with a minor in Mathematics and carries a 3.97 GPA. Duffy also was the 2011 recipient of the Fred Holloway Award winner by the SUNYAC given to the student-athlete with the highest grade point on average on the first or second team All-SUNYAC. Duffy led the Golden Eagles with seven goals and 15 assists and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The senior scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Manhattanville in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Duffy was also named to the SUNYAC Commissioner's List and the SUNYAC All-Academic Team.
Chapman is an Exercise Physiology major with a 3.59 GPA. The senior was a member of the 2012 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championship team. Chapman earned All-American honors at the championships on the bars with a score of 9.5. Chapman was also named to the NCGA All-Academic team.
Rispoli, the 2010-11 Brockport Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, is a Kinesiology/Sport Science/Physical Education major with a Teacher Certification and carries a 3.93 GPA. The senior was named a 2011-2012 Division III Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) and to the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) All-Academic Team. Prior to going down with a season-ending injury, Rispoli posted a 20-6 overall record on the mats, including a first-place finish at the Doug Parker Invitational at Springfield College.
