Eliah Golding (Albany, NY/Colonie) and
Ryan Reed (Marion, NY/Rush-Henrietta) have both picked up weekly awards from the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC). Golding, who has also been named The College at Brockport Athlete of the Week, was named Co-Wrestler of the Week and Reed earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Golding pinned four wrestlers in a grand total of 5:22 throughout the week. One pin came against RIT in a dual meet in just 1:25. Competing at the Baldwin-Wallace John Summa Memorial Tournament, Golding pinned his way to the championship. The three pins were recorded in 1:05, 1:09, and 1:43 to win the 141-pound championship. Golding has not lost since Dec. 3, 11 straight matches. Five of his last six victories have come by way of pin.
Reed, also competing at the John Summa Memorial Tournament, won the 133-pound title. Reed won a 10-3 decision in the opening round, and followed up with a pin in 2:33. Reed won his next match with a 10-5 decision and recorded a 7-3 decision in the championship match to win the title.
