2012 VIRGINIA DUALS BRACKET
The College at Brockport Wrestling team has received the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Virginia Duals on Jan. 13 and 14. The Golden Eagles will face St. Andrews in the first round at 9 am Friday.
Brockport will compete in the eight-team American College Division of the duals for the second consecutive year. Nassau Community College comes in as the No. 2 seed, Liberty as the No. 3, and Central Florida as the No. 4 seed. Also competing is Johns Hopkins, Anderson University, and the Apprentice School. Brockport will face either Johns Hopkins or Central Florida in the second round.
The Golden Eagles are currently 1-0 on the year in dual meets. The lone victory came against Lycoming College, a 34-6 decision that gave head coach
Don Murray his 300th career dual victory.
The team has had strong showings at tournaments earlier in the year as well. Brockport finished as the top team at the Doug Parker Invitational at Springfield College on Nov. 19 and came in second at the Spartan Invite at York College on Dec. 3.
Brockport is currently ranked No. 15 in the latest Brute-Adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III rankings.
Tom Rispoli (East Meadows, NY/East Meadows) is currently ranked No. 8 in Division III for the 157 lb. weight class. Rispoli is 14-4 overall and holds a 10-1 mark against Division III foes.
Last season at the duals, Brockport posted a 1-1-1 record. The Golden Eagles lost their first round matchup against King College, then defeated Johns Hopkins 18-16 and tied Nassau Community College in their final meet.
