Ferrara Breaks School Record at Lake Erie

RESULTS

Junior Zach Ferrara (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) took first place in the men's pole vault with a new school record height of 15 ft. 11 inches as The College at Brockport men's and women's track and field team competed in a non-scoring team event at the Lake Erie College Open on Saturday.

Ferrara's previous high was 15 ft. nine inches last season at the Robert Kane Invitational. Also having a successful appearance at Lake Erie for the men was Nate Matthews (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley). Competing in the 800-meter run, Matthews finished in fifth place out 51 with a time of 1:56.11. Dustin Colgan (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) came in seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 15.33 meters.

On the women's side, Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) had another strong showing in both the weight throw and shot put events. Jones came in fourth place in the weight throw at 14.87 meters, a personal-best. In the weight throw, Jones came in sixth place with a distance of 12.51 meters, just .31 meters off of her personal-best.
