Senior
Kaitlin Dewey (Saratoga, NY/Saratoga Springs) set a personal-best in the all-around for The College at Brockport's gymnastics team at the annual Brockport Invitational on Saturday.
Dewey scored a 37.675 in the all-around, surpassing the 37.200 points she scored during the Ithaca quad meet Jan. 14.
Dewey also won the floor exercise event with a 9.725, only .025 from tying her personal best, and scored a 9.400 on the uneven bars, .05 points shy of her career high. With a third-place finish on the beam, Dewey cemented a third-place all-around finish, 0.35 points out of first.
Brockport placed third at its Invitational, scoring 186.125 points. Division I Cornell University came in first with 190.425 points, Southern Connecticut State University was second with 186.725 and Springfield College was fourth with 177 points.
“I'm happy that my seniors are stepping up as leaders,” Brockport head coach
John Feeney said when asked about the performances of his upperclassman.
“They're not just stepping up and performing well, but they are also stepping up and helping the younger players perform.”
Brockport finished second on the beam with a team score of 46.475, and tied for second in the floor event with a total team score of 47.375.
Brockport sophomore
Taryn Kateridge (Medford, NY/Patchogue-Medford) tied her personal best with a 9.625 score on the floor exercise, finishing fourth. Kateridge, named the Brockport Female Athlete of the Week, scored 9.325 on the vault. In the latest Troester Division III national gymnastics rankings, Kateridge was the No. 1 vaulter in the country among DIII gymnasts. Kateridge's season average of 9.450 is on pace to surpass her 2009-10 season average.
Junior
Kileigh Chapman (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) placed second on the balance beam, scoring 9.550. Chapman was also the No. 1 ranked gymnast on the beam in the Troester rankings.
Senior Nicole Horodyski (Gainesville, FL/Buchholtz) posted a season-high 9.575 on the uneven bars, surpassing her previous best mark of 9.650.
Brockport gymnastics hits the road for a dual meet with West Chester (PA) University for a dual meet on Saturday, January 29th.
